Time for an Update

  • Tonight, I led worship at CCKY which was great. 8 People responded to Goldie's gospel preach, brilliant! It included an interesting moment where Goldie spelt the word 'HELL' in white paper on the front of a bass amp, which  i took as prophetic confirmation of my long-term suspicions of the spiritual origins of the lower rumbling frequency.
  • Last night, I went to 2 parties which were very different in nature. Firstly, I went to my Amex party at Hilton Hotel which was classy, but at the same time a bit of a cliched office affair, although alot of very glamorous looking people. There was a function band who were fairly mediocre, but what cracked me up was the lead singer had been in this band i saw a couple of months ago who were totally metal, really full on METAL, and now this guy had obviously taken up the day job which rather humiliatingly for him involved singing lowest common denominator cheese such as 'Feeling hot, hot, hot.'

  • Then after that, I went to another party at Carrie's which was a punk party. Lots of people were very punkily dressed. One may wonder what punk audio treat would await you on entry........ perhaps some Sex Pistols and The Clash or maybe Blink 182, Green Day or Foo Fighters for the new wave punk era, but no the 1st two songs i heard were those well known punk rockers.....The Spice girls (Wannabe) and The Village People (YMCA).
Nice to be busy with guitar recently, had a few Shortfall gigs recently around Sussex, a bit of recording for  another band, playing at church etc which  has been really cool. BIG GIG COMING IN JAN.

Saw The Killers this week in Brixton which was pretty good, just found that Switchfoot have rescheduled for Feb, may go and see Delirious soon as it used to be a bit of a christmas tradition to see them and i quite like their new dvd. Also going to see Incubus in April, sweet!

PS. Man Utd for Title, England to retain the Ashes!

Deeper than usual!

Hello people, so another month has passed so it must be time for an update from me.

So now been working at Amex for about 2 months. Time has flown. I am busier than ever before, work, band, cell captaining, worship leading etc, student lunches. To be honest i thought i would really like being this busy but the truth is i don't. There are so many friends that i hardly get to see, and life can just seem to pass by. Need to change this schedule a bit.

Recently, my Gran passed away and it has given me a chance to reflect on what it means to be a servant and being humble. She was the most amazing godly woman, who always put the happiness of others first, who would always be looking to be a servant to anyone and everyone. There was nothing that spectacular about her, she did the simple things well, very well in fact. She loved people sacrificially, and she loved doing it, it wasn't a legalism to her.

It has challenged me on what I call 'godliness.' so often i think of people with leading in godliness as being platform people, people with amazing levels of gifting in Prophecy, healing, preaching and anything else in the supernatual realm. And I'm not knocking those gifts, i think they are great. But i have realised that some of the most amazing christians are those who just want to be 'Marthas' who want to serve, who love to do it as their worship to God.

In the world, people praise celebrities who can do things on platforms, and treat them as if they are more special than 'average people' who 'just' do a regular 9-5 job and go home to their families every night. There are some amazing people at CCK, some of them are on the platform, some of them I may have never heard of. Thankfully, God sees something  very special, in those that I may not consider to be charasmatic leaders, but who just do the things God has called them to do in the background. where would be without them.

Other news:

Went to Prison to preach on Sunday evening. I enjoyed it so much, God is so gracious.

Paul Oakley has asked me to play for him at church over the next few months while Alan Rose recovers, something that as a teenager i would have dreamed of. Very humbling.

Played with Matt Redman, see www.myspace.com/shortfallofficial for a cheeky little review of the gig on video.

So its time for the September update........and what more appropriate day to do it on than my 24th Birthday!

I have now been working at American Express for 2 and a half weeks now, and its going well. I have some truly lovely work mates who i am being trained alongside. There are 12 of us, and we make up an interesting bunch. God has blessed me with another christian in Andy who is from Poland. God is really moving in the workplace, its exciting. I can't tell you how nice it is to have someone in your team to pray with for breakthrough.

The New 'Wake up Lucy' EP is out at last and i'm really pleased. It is going to be released through Ambience Records shortly, but for now you can buy it at gigs,shortfall.org, CCK are stocking it from this Sunday, and you can buy on mp3 from www.indiestore.com . £3.00. you can listen to some of it on our www.myspace.com/shortfallofficial site.

Gig with Matt Redman is now fast approaching (Sunday 8th Oct, 5pm, K2 Leisure Centre, Crawley.) Going to be a massive crowd so i hope some of you can come up for it.

I am looking forward to Alpha starting next week, its always so great to share the love of God with people and make them aware of how much they really do need him.

Thats about it at the moment. I have had a cool birthday, best present so far has to be the Ashes boxset from last summer from my housemate Giles and his fiancee Lauren.

Going to see the Killers at end of November.......Back of the net!

Not happy about Sunday's game. losing top of the table to Pompey is a humbling experience!

Ok so another summer month has been and gone!

The last month has included:

1. Job Hunting - I have been offered a job with American Express, starting Sept 4th (coincidentally the same day as the new CCK impacters begin!) which i am really pleased about. My shift is good but will take some getting used to : 7.15am - 2.45pm, but nice coz i have the rest of the afternoon available.

2. Visiting various friends in London which was great!

3. Going to Dublin on Holiday and meeting new family.

4. Gigged a bit with Shortfall. (www.myspace.com/shortfallofficial) . Still waiting for our new EP to be finished (Production & Mastering tweaking going on!). Its frustrating, just want to get it out there!

5. Just came back from Momentum, Soul Survivor. Awesome, it is good to get outside NFI sometimes to see what God is doing in the UK church as a whole, and the answer is alot! Saw over 100 saved ( which on a 20s camp i think is amazing, do non-christian students and twenties really pay £80 to go to a christian festival?)

6. Wheelin' and dealin' on ebay!

7. Seeing Tom & Sam Godec and Dave & Hannah Wilson getting married.

Thats about it.

Oh yeah,  i have got to say i am very happy about Man U's start to the season, despite loss of Van Nistelrooy. I think we are going to have a good season.

Not that anyone else apart from me and my housemate Giles cares, but crazyiness in the cricket, Pakistan caught cheating? hmmm......seems very odd, but hey somehow we win the series 3-0.

Switchfoot cancelled.....how annoying!

Today i saw a boy with a T-shirt with a message that made me smile ' Tell your boobs to stop staring at my eyes.'

I'm saying nothing!

Anyway, summer is drawing to a close, and many of us are moving on to new pastures, one way or another. To those people in particular God establishes you amazingly in those new roles. For everyone else, I hope God makes us more fruitful than the year before in whatever you doing.

Amen.
